This 1974-S Eisenhower $1 silver coin commemorates President Dwight Eisenhower and the Apollo moon landings. The reverse features an eagle on the moon, inspired by the NASA emblem.

Obverse: A portrait of President Eisenhower, left-handed, with a solemn expression and clean relief.

Reverse: A bald eagle, clutching an olive branch, lands on the lunar surface, with the silhouette of Earth and 13 stars (symbolizing the founding states) in the background.

Historical Status: This coin is one of the last 40% silver commemorative coins in circulation in the United States. Silver proof versions (Brown Ikes) were issued from 1971 to 1974, with silver coin issuance discontinued after 1976.
